So I interviewed for this position and they lowballed me pretty hard. I counter offered with what I know I'm worth based on market rates. HR lady gets all offended and starts lecturing me about "being realistic" and how I should be "grateful for the opportunity." Like excuse me? I have 4 years experience and know my value. • BubzerBlue If she keeps 'following up', then they definitely don't have other qualified candidates. Its a super common high-pressure tactic among all HR... pretend like candidates are beating down their door in order to lower compensation.
  • OriginalZog This is an internal job? I got offered an internal promotion and they told me there was no pay increase, I declined the job and they found 10% suddenly.
  • shodogrouch Here's a perspective you might not have considered: a good number of large organizations farm out their HR / hiring negotiations. The firms are KPI'd / comp'd on how far below the midpoint of the range they can get you to sign for. F that lady and next email tell her your number just went up 3%.
  • dreaminginteal Sounds like a good opportunity to be petty back at them. "Good luck with your cheap unskilled labor." "I might reconsider for a rate of (20% more than what you last asked for)." Up the number every time they call back.
  • [deleted] lol wow... "Have you reconsidered the compensation? If not, I don't think there's much else to discuss here. I'll await your response."
